Gail Bolland

Gail Bolland trained and practised as a sculptor before moving into arts development and administration. In 1992, with support from forward-thinking management she founded and directed Tonic, a multi arts programme for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals, which aimed to enrich the environments and culture of six West Yorkshire hospitals for patients, visitors and staff. Under her leadership a number of writing residencies were created. Gail has contributed to publications on arts in health and has written a crime novel. She joined SI Leeds following the club’s in-depth support for Tonic on a major arts programme for a new cancer hospital for Leeds.
